Job Description

U-Haul is a well-established company that has been serving do-it-yourself movers and their households since 1945. Founded by L.S. "Sam" Shoen and Anna Mary Carty Shoen, U-Haul recognized the need for affordable, accessible moving equipment on a one-way, nationwide basis following World War II. The company revolutionized moving by spreading the cost of ownership among many users, encouraging mobility across the U.S. and Canada. Today, U-Haul stands as a leader in the moving and storage industry, with a strong focus on innovation, customer service, and community engagement. They offer a broad range of products and services, including rental trucks, trailers, storage units, and moving supplies, catering to individuals, families, and businesses that seek flexible moving solutions.

U-Haul’s corporate culture emphasizes health and wellness, equal opportunity employment, and professional growth. Since February 1, 2020, the company upholds a nicotine-free hiring policy in states where legally permissible, reflecting their commitment to employee health. They also ensure accommodations for applicants during the selection process and protect applicants' privacy regarding any information shared. U-Haul fosters an inclusive, supportive work environment that encourages team members to develop their skills and advance their careers within the company.

The role of Facility Housekeeper at U-Haul is critical in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for customers and team members alike. This position is ideal for individuals who are organized, proactive, and detail-oriented. Facility Housekeepers are responsible for cleaning and maintaining U-Haul facilities, ensuring that storage units, hallways, restrooms, elevators, and communal areas are tidy and well-kept. The role requires performing tasks such as sweeping, vacuuming, wiping, mopping, and trash disposal, as well as managing cleaning supplies inventory. Facility Housekeepers often support the overall facility operations, which contributes to U-Haul’s reputation for top-tier customer service.

This employment opportunity offers career stability and valuable on-the-job training. U-Haul invests in its employees by providing opportunities for advancement and a comprehensive benefits package that promotes overall well-being. Benefits include life insurance, legal and identity theft protection programs, auto and home insurance discounts, paid holidays, vacation, and sick days, 401k plans, stock options, health, dental and vision insurance if eligible, subsidized gym memberships, business and travel insurance, and employee assistance programs. Facility Housekeepers become part of an exceptional and supportive team that values each member’s contribution and personal development.

Working as a Facility Housekeeper involves some physical exertion and safety precautions, such as using protective gear when handling cleaning chemicals or working around machinery. The position is suitable for self-starters who are eager to learn and take initiative. Individuals with good organizational skills, a strong work ethic, and willingness to maintain cleanliness standards will thrive in this role. In joining U-Haul, Facility Housekeepers not only gain steady employment but also become part of a company with a rich history and a commitment to employee success and community service.
