Job Description

Spenard Roadhouse is a popular and well-established restaurant known for its high-quality dishes and commitment to excellent customer service. Located in a vibrant community, Spenard Roadhouse offers an inviting atmosphere where diners can enjoy a diverse menu featuring fresh ingredients and creative culinary techniques. The restaurant prides itself on its team-oriented culture, where every staff member plays a crucial role in delivering an exceptional dining experience. Spenard Roadhouse is part of a family of local restaurants that includes Snow City Cafe, South Restaurant + Coffeehouse, and Crush Bistro, providing opportunities for growth and a supportive workplace environment. The restaurant values inclusivity and professionalism while fostering a friendly and energetic atmosphere for both guests and employees.

The Expo/Food Runner role at Spenard Roadhouse is a vital position that bridges the front of house and back of house operations to ensure smooth and efficient service during both AM and PM shifts. The main responsibility of this role is to act as the liaison between servers and kitchen staff, guaranteeing that every dish leaving the kitchen meets presentation and quality standards. This includes verifying the accurate preparation of dishes, confirming correct temperatures, and coordinating the timely delivery of all items for each table. The Expo/Food Runner must possess in-depth knowledge of the menu, including ingredients and cooking methods, to effectively communicate with guests and staff. Additionally, this role involves handling guest inquiries, dietary restrictions, and complaints with empathy and professionalism, always aiming to "make it right" and advocate for the guest.

The candidate will be attentive to detail in inspecting plates before they leave the kitchen, organizing and restocking supplies during downtime, and overseeing the accuracy and completeness of To Go orders. Strong communication skills are essential as this role requires constant collaboration with servers, managers, and kitchen supervisors to swiftly resolve any issues. Standing and moving throughout a busy restaurant for up to 9 hours demands stamina and a positive attitude in a fast-paced setting. A current Municipality of Anchorage Food Worker Card is also required for compliance and safety. This position offers valuable experience in the hospitality industry with the chance to learn about operational procedures and improve guest satisfaction in a supportive team environment. Potential employees should be prepared to uphold the restaurant's high standards and contribute positively to an energetic and guest-focused workplace. This job provides medical, dental, and vision insurance, a flexible spending account, paid sick leave converting to PTO, a 401(k) plan with employer matching, and dining discounts across multiple affiliated restaurants, making it a rewarding opportunity for individuals passionate about food service and hospitality.
