Job Requirements
- Be punctual to begin work
- wear proper uniform including black slacks, Black Bear Diner shirt and suspenders, slip-proof black shoes, and name badge
- wear and communicate through radio headset at all times
- maintain neat and clean appearance
- act as liaison between kitchen and servers
- communicate any delays or out-of-stock items
- maintain cheerful and positive attitude
- assist counter server with guest service
- keep work areas clean
- report equipment and supply issues immediately
- take breaks on time and return promptly
- work overtime if needed
- be a team player
- make food runs as necessary
- communicate station transitions to management
- maintain Food Handler Certification
- keep condiments stocked
- complete all side work before leaving
- ensure expo station and surrounding areas are clean and free of handprints
- be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods
- carry plates and trays weighing up to nine pounds continuously
- lift up to 25 pounds
- able to write and operate POS systems requiring repetitive motion
- smile frequently and be courteous at all times
Job Qualifications
- Food Handler Certification
- prior experience in a fast-paced restaurant environment preferred
- excellent communication skills
- ability to multi-task
- ability to maintain a neat and clean appearance
- ability to work well in a team
- knowledge of kitchen operations and POS systems a plus
Job Duties
- Perform quality control on all food before serving
- assure meals are presented at appropriate temperatures and within kitchen time standards
- act as liaison between server and kitchen lead to ensure meal accuracy
- communicate delays and out-of-stock items to managers and servers
- assist counter server in guest satisfaction
- maintain cleanliness of work areas and expo station
- report equipment failures and supply shortages
- wear uniform and radio headset at all times
- complete all side work before shift end
- ensure condiments are fully stocked
- make food runs when needed
- comply with food handler certification requirements
- communicate station transitions to management
- maintain positive and cheerful attitude
- take breaks on time and return promptly
- work overtime as required
- be a team player
