The role of Executive Sous Chef at Tao Group Hospitality is pivotal to maintaining the high standards and operational excellence of the heart-of-house (kitchen and back-of-house) team. This full-time position is designed for a seasoned culinary professional who can assist the Executive Chef in leading daily kitchen operations, ensuring food quality, safety, and profitability across various service channels including regular dining, catering, take-out, delivery, and special events both on and off the venue. The Executive Sous Chef will work closely with kitchen staff, management, and other team members to uphold gracious hospitality while managing schedules, training programs, and team development initiatives. This role requires an individual with strong leadership capabilities, financial acumen particularly in dealing with Profit and Loss statements, and experience in high-volume kitchen settings.
Essential functions of the position encompass a wide range of responsibilities such as maintaining cleanliness and compliance with sanitation and health regulations, aiding in recruitment and training efforts, managing operational systems including payroll and inventory, and ensuring recipe accuracy and menu consistency. The Executive Sous Chef will also contribute to menu development by organizing and producing new recipes and specials in alignment with brand standards. They are accountable for coaching and mentoring the heart-of-house team, facilitating communication during service, overseeing maintenance and repair of kitchen equipment, and participating in ongoing training and departmental meetings. The role demands excellent problem-solving skills, organizational prowess, and a proactive approach to leadership challenges.

This position is suitable for candidates who have a minimum of five years’ culinary experience in high-volume kitchens, ideally at the Chef de Cuisine or Sous Chef level, and possess at least an associate degree or equivalent experience in Culinary Arts. The role also requires proficiency with technology, including Microsoft Office and Point of Sale (POS) systems, as well as an ability to work under pressure, maintain positive energy, and demonstrate excellent communication skills. Job Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of previous culinary experience as a Chef de Cuisine or Sous Chef within a high-volume kitchen setting
- Two-year associate degree (60 credit hours) in Culinary Arts or equivalent work experience preferred
- Strong menu planning, ability to coach, build a team, problem solve, and leadership skills required
- Demonstrated financial acumen with P&L statements and labor models is desirable
- Must be organized, self-motivated, and proactive with strong attention to detail
- Proficient with computers (Microsoft Products), POS, and technology
Job Duties
- Ensuring the needs of the guests are accommodated
- Ensures the general cleanliness of the heart-of-house and the entire venue
- Assists in the decision-making process for interviewing, hiring, and training new applicants
- Responsible for the scheduling, growth opportunities, and team member development of heart-of-house team members
- Works with GM to create job performance reviews
- Responsible for heart-of-house operations to ensure safety, quality, recipe accuracy, and financial profitability
- Responsible for the execution of regular service, catering, take-out, delivery, and all in/off-venue events
