This role is for an Assistant Chef who will support the Executive Chef in managing and overseeing kitchen operations to ensure a safe, sanitary, and efficient work environment. The Assistant Chef will be instrumental in preparing and directing meal preparation that aligns with Flik’s corporate standards and culinary guidelines. Key responsibilities include coordinating kitchen personnel, ensuring food quality and cost-effectiveness, assisting with planning and inventory, and managing cost controls. The Assistant Chef will also collaborate on new culinary programs alongside marketing and culinary teams to continuously enhance the dining experience. This position requires someone with a strong culinary background, excellent communication skills, and familiarity with high-volume foodservice environments. The role calls for leadership in maintaining kitchen cleanliness, organization, and sanitation, as well as the ability to perform a wide array of duties as assigned. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3-5 years of culinary experience in a relevant foodservice environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Knowledge of kitchen safety and sanitation standards
- Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to manage high volume food preparation
- Willingness to support cost control initiatives
- Flexibility to perform various kitchen duties as assigned
Job Qualifications
- B.S. degree in culinary arts, food services technology/management or related field
- or A.O.S. degree in culinary arts with additional specialized training
- 3-5 years of relevant culinary experience
- Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and oral/written communication skills
- Knowledge of food cost and how it pertains to a kitchen, product and quality identification
- Must be experienced with computers
- to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power Point), Outlook, E-mail and the Internet
- High volume, complex foodservice operations experience - highly desirable
- Institutional and batch cooking experiences helpful
Job Duties
- Coordinates activities of kitchen personnel engaged in preparation of food service
- Ensures that high quality food items are creatively prepared and presented in a cost effective manner
- Assists in all phases of planning, ordering, inventory, and food preparation
- Supports the management of cost controls and control expenditures for the account
- Rolls out new culinary programs in conjunction with the marketing and culinary teams
- Supervises co-workers to ensure the cleanliness, organization, and overall sanitation of the kitchen
- Performs other duties as assigned
