Job Description

Husk is a nationally acclaimed restaurant that has been setting the standard in modern Southern cuisine since its establishment. Located in the heart of downtown Savannah's Historic District, Husk proudly embraces the rich history and evolution of Southern culinary traditions. The restaurant features an ever-changing menu that showcases the bounty of the region, with a strong commitment to supporting local suppliers. Husk is revered for its extensive raw bar and seafood program that highlights an exquisite variety of regional oysters from the East Coast, allowing guests to experience the finest ingredients in authentic, innovative dishes.

As part of The Neighborhood Dining Group, a renowned collective that includes Husk, Marbled & Fin, Delaney Oyster House, Minero, and The James, Husk strives for culinary excellence by fostering creativity, leadership, and continuous professional development. This dynamic group of restaurants is dedicated to redefining what it means to cook and lead with purpose in Charleston and beyond. Husk offers an inspiring, professional work environment with many opportunities for growth, leadership development, and employee benefits designed to support both career progression and personal wellbeing.

The Executive Sous Chef role at Husk in Savannah, GA, is a compelling opportunity for those passionate about Southern cuisine and dedicated to high culinary standards. This position allows a culinary professional to elevate their craft by working with the best ingredients the South has to offer while contributing to a nationally recognized restaurant's legacy. The role requires someone who is professional, passionate, and committed to teamwork, with the ability to lead with integrity and thrive in a high-performing kitchen.

As Executive Sous Chef, the individual will work closely with the Executive Chef to manage daily kitchen operations. This includes upholding the highest standards of food quality, preparation, and presentation to ensure every dish served meets Husk’s exacting reputation. The role also involves mentoring and training kitchen staff to maintain consistency and promote strong team performance. The Executive Sous Chef plays a critical leadership role by overseeing kitchen cleanliness, organization, and safety, ensuring compliance with all health and safety standards.

Collaboration with front-of-house management is essential for seamless service, requiring clear communication and coordination during busy service periods. The Executive Sous Chef will assist with scheduling, inventory control, prep execution, and ordering, ensuring the kitchen operates efficiently and effectively. Being hands-on during all meal periods, including prep, service, and breakdown, highlights the leadership commitment expected for this position.

Husk offers highly competitive compensation, along with a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, short-term disability, and life insurance after 30 days. Employees receive a 401(k) plan with employer match, generous paid time off that increases with tenure, paid parking, and access to employer-sponsored mental health resources like therapy and coaching. Additional perks such as next-day pay access, employee discounts on dining and gym memberships, and leadership development programs make Husk an attractive employer for culinary professionals aiming to grow their careers in an encouraging and professional atmosphere.
