The role of Housekeeping Supervisor is pivotal in upholding the hotel's cleanliness and maintenance standards. This management position involves supervising and coordinating the activities of various housekeeping personnel, including Assistant Housekeepers, Room Attendants, Breakfast Attendants, Laundry staff, Housemen, and Night Cleaners. The supervisor is responsible for creating efficient morning work assignments to ensure proper upkeep of all areas and maintaining company productivity standards. A significant part of the role includes training, scheduling, and quality control, ensuring that all tasks meet the hotel's rigorous cleanliness protocols. The supervisor also manages guest relations related to housekeeping concerns, addressing complaints effectively or escalating issues to higher management when necessary.

The Housekeeping Supervisor ensures the department's optimal operation by requisitioning uniforms and supplies, testing new cleaning products, and communicating maintenance needs. Daily inspections of all rooms guarantee that cleanliness and maintenance standards are consistently met. This role requires a proactive and hands-on approach, assisting in room cleaning when needed to optimize labor efficiency and support the team. The supervisor also manages lost and found items, inspects vacant rooms for readiness and repair needs, and ensures that storage and linen rooms are clean, organized, and well-stocked.

Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
minimum of 2 years experience in housekeeping or related field
previous supervisory experience preferred
ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
strong physical stamina to handle cleaning and supervisory tasks
good communication skills
basic computer skills for reporting and scheduling
attention to detail
ability to stand and walk for extended periods

Job Duties

Makes up morning work assignments to ensure all areas of building are properly maintained in accordance with cleanliness standards
supervises the activities of Assistant Housekeeper, Breakfast Attendants, Room Attendants, Laundry, Housemen, and Night Cleaners engaged in all types of the hotel cleaning operations
maintains company productivity standards
trains, assigns, and schedules department personnel
checks quality of work performed and makes appropriate corrections and changes as necessary
handles guest complaints concerning housekeeping service or refers problem to management for adjustment
requisitions uniforms and supplies
supervises the testing of new products for the housekeeping department
notifies maintenance of any needed repairs
responsible for the inspection of all rooms daily, ensuring cleanliness standards are being met
helps guests and employees in every way possible when called upon and does it willingly and pleasantly
lists and items of lost and found items
checks any vacant rooms for condition and possible occupancy, reporting any discrepancies to management
checks rooms to ensure that lights are working properly
inspects for needed repairs, such as wallpaper and painting needs
supervises the keeping of all storage areas and linen rooms in a clean and satisfactory condition, as well as stocked with needed items
reports and delivers valuable items to the Manager's Office as early as possible after a guest has checked out
perform any and all duties not specifically outlined above that are an inherent part of the position
perform and execute any requests made by corporate, GM / AGM / supervisor, in a cooperative and expeditious manner
assists housekeeping department by also cleaning rooms, stayovers, and requests to reduce labor as much as possible
