Job Requirements
- Valid drivers license and motor vehicle background check
- Criminal background check
- Proficiency in Windows operating system software
- Minimum two-year college degree or Culinary Degree preferred
- At least five years of progressive culinary experience in a hotel or related field
- Supervisory experience
- Ability to work in high-pressure, stressful environments
- Understanding of food safety certifications including Food Handlers, Alcohol Awareness, CPR, and First Aid
- Ability to maintain composure and use independent judgment
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple administrative and executive duties
- Physical ability to perform duties including lifting 20-50 lbs, standing for long periods, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and walking long distances
- Commitment to safety and sanitation standards
Job Qualifications
- At least five years of progressive experience in hotel or related culinary field
- Two-year college degree with three or more years of related experience, or a four-year degree with at least one to two years related experience, or Culinary Degree with one to two years progressive experience in hotel or related field
- Proficiency in Windows operating systems, spreadsheets, and word processing
- Supervisory experience
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to evaluate and decide among alternatives quickly and accurately
- Capability to work well in stressful, high-pressure situations
- Ability to maintain composure and objectivity under pressure
- Effective problem-solving skills
- Ability to assimilate complex information from varied sources
- Effective listener and communicator for coworker and guest issues
- Understanding of financial information and basic arithmetic functions
Job Duties
- Supervise and assist in food preparation for restaurant, room service, employee cafeteria, and banquets
- Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and safety standards in kitchen and storage areas
- Minimize food waste and optimize cost and production ratios
- Plan meals and assist Food & Beverage Manager with pricing and banquet assignments
- Lead, motivate, coach, counsel, and discipline kitchen staff according to company standards
- Prepare and manage kitchen scheduling, payroll, and productivity reports
- Conduct staff training, performance appraisals, and handle hiring procedures
- Oversee inventory control, food cost budgeting, and participate in food promotions and menu changes
