Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2-3 years culinary management experience
- Current Food Handler's card
- Ability to work flexible schedule including nights and weekends
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to maintain cleanliness and safety standards
- Proficiency in basic computer applications
- Ability to train and mentor staff
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to manage inventory and control costs
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain compliance with health and safety regulations
- Must be proactive and able to solve problems independently
Job Qualifications
- Minimum of 2-3 years kitchen management experience in a full-service restaurant or events venue
- Proven ability to meet projected food cost targets
- Professional appearance and presentation
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and Outlook
- Current Food Handler's card and alcohol service permit if applicable
- Knowledge of employee scheduling in hospitality settings
- Certification or ability to obtain certification in a recognized sanitation program
- Technical expertise in food preparation methods
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with diverse personalities
- Ability to train, evaluate, motivate and counsel staff
- Effective delegation and problem-solving skills
- Strong decision-making ability and initiative
- Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask and prioritize
- Self-directed work style in a team-oriented environment
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends and long hours
Job Duties
- Manage, develop and mentor a team of 35 culinary employees including hiring and disciplinary actions
- Ensure event staff understand workplace expectations and provide ongoing training and mentoring
- Achieve budgeted food cost percentages through portion control, inventory management and purchasing procedures
- Control labor costs by scheduling and cross-training kitchen staff and monitoring breaks
- Ensure purchasing and food preparation meet established quality and consistency standards
- Supervise line set-up, prep and breakdown activities and delegate tasks during service
- Coordinate maintenance and repair of kitchen equipment to ensure operational readiness
- Manage delivery and set-up of catering services and food service areas
- Arrange and lead kitchen staff training, orientation and development
- Maintain positive and compliant employee relations including staffing, evaluations and counseling
- Enforce health, sanitation, safety and employment regulations within the kitchen
- Maintain accurate kitchen records including food inventories and invoicing
- Organize employee work schedules ensuring appropriate coverage and uniform compliance
- Promote teamwork through effective communication and leadership
- Oversee production of staff meals ensuring timeliness and quality
