Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2-3 years experience managing kitchen staff
  • proficiency with computer software including MS Word, Excel and Outlook
  • current Food Handler's card
  • certification in sanitation program or ability to obtain
  • strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
  • flexible schedule to work nights, weekends, and holidays
  • ability to handle multiple priorities in fast paced environment
  • professional and polished appearance

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 2-3 years of kitchen management experience in full service restaurant or event venue
  • track record of meeting cost projections
  • professional appearance and presentation
  • proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • current Food Handler's card and alcohol service permit if required
  • knowledge of employee scheduling in hospitality
  • certification or ability to obtain in nationally recognized sanitation program
  • technical knowledge of food preparation methods
  • strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • ability to train, evaluate, motivate, coach, and counsel staff
  • problem solving and decision making abilities
  • detail-oriented, able to multitask and prioritize
  • ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • flexible availability to work nights, weekends, and long hours

Job Duties

  • Manage and mentor culinary staff including hiring and disciplinary actions
  • ensure event staff understand expectations and provide ongoing training
  • control food costs through inventory and portion management
  • schedule kitchen staff and control labor costs
  • oversee food purchasing and quality consistency
  • develop menus guaranteeing quality and style
  • monitor food preparation, presentation, and sanitation standards
  • supervise line setup, prep, and breakdown
  • delegate tasks to kitchen staff
  • coordinate kitchen equipment maintenance
  • manage catering delivery and setup
  • organize staff training and orientation
  • foster positive employee relations and teamwork
  • enforce compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations
  • maintain kitchen records including inventory and invoicing
  • organize employee schedules and ensure uniform policy compliance
  • solve operational problems quickly and effectively
  • oversee preparation of staff meals according to schedule
