This job opening is for a Kitchen Manager who will oversee kitchen operations at one of Chartwells K12's school locations. The position is full-time and offers a competitive salary range of $55,000 to $65,000 annually. The Kitchen Manager will be instrumental in directing meal preparation activities that adhere to Chartwells' corporate programs and established guidelines, ensuring high standards of food quality and safety. Key responsibilities include menu planning for regular and modified diets, training kitchen staff on proper food handling and sanitation practices, maintaining cleaning and maintenance schedules, and managing inventory to optimize food and supply usage while keeping costs within budget. This role necessitates compliance with federal, state, and local health regulations as well as company-specific sanitation procedures.
This leadership position requires a hands-on professional with a strong background in culinary and kitchen management. Candidates are expected to bring three to five years of progressive experience managing large-scale foodservice operations, preferably in high volume or complex environments. The ideal Kitchen Manager will be knowledgeable about current food and catering trends, with a focus on quality, production efficiency, food safety, cost control, and presentation. Computer literacy, particularly with Microsoft Office applications and email communication, is also essential. While not required, ServSafe certification and extensive catering experience will be viewed favorably. Job Requirements

- three to five years of kitchen management experience
- knowledge of food safety regulations

Job Qualifications
- A.S. degree or equivalent experience
- three to five years of progressive culinary and kitchen management experience
- comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends
- experience with food safety, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation
- proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet/email usage
- ServSafe certification highly desirable
- extensive catering experience a plus
- experience in high volume, complex foodservice operations highly desirable
Job Duties
- Plan regular and modified menus according to established guidelines
- train kitchen staff in food preparation, safe handling, and operation of equipment
- maintain cleaning and maintenance schedules for kitchen equipment, storage, and work areas
- manage inventory of food and non-food supplies to ensure availability and control costs
- ensure compliance with federal, state, and local health and sanitation regulations
- perform other duties as assigned
