The Culinary Manager role at Sunrise Senior Living offers a unique opportunity to lead the culinary services department within a dynamic and caring senior living community. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Five or more years culinary experience in the hospitality industry
- Valid driver’s license
- Food handlers permit as required by state law or company standards
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
- Ability to resolve problems of dissatisfied customers and employees
- Compliance with company motor vehicle policy standards
- Maintain required training per company and regulatory authorities
Job Qualifications
- Five or more years culinary experience in the hospitality industry

- Strong organization and time management skills
- Ability to resolve problems of dissatisfied customers and employees

- Completion of required training pursuant to company and state regulations
Job Duties
- Interview, hire, train, develop, and performance manage assigned staff
- Schedule hours, breaks, and meal periods
- Maintain monthly and annual budgets for Culinary Services department, producing written documentation of monthly spend
- Maintain inventory of kitchen supplies, small wares, and tableware
- Ensure purchasing standards are maintained using appropriate vendors and maintain positive vendor relationships
- Ensure food is prepared, stored, and served according to company standards and legal requirements
- Meet regularly with residents and family members to ensure high satisfaction levels
- Work with staff to provide high levels of customer service
- Coordinate front of house and back of house staff to deliver food products that exceed expectations
- Work with community leadership to maintain customer satisfaction and department of health survey scores
- Maintain documentation, reports, and invoices related to budget and other responsibilities
- Maintain employee satisfaction and engagement scores
- Delegate tasks to ensure kitchen and dining areas are clean and of high quality
- Conduct department meetings, in-services, and pre-meal stand ups
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of equipment to avoid injury and damage
- Assist in planning and execution of Engage Life events, banquets, and theme meals
- Collaborate with Community Sales team to market the community
- Communicate company expectations and first impression standards to kitchen and restaurant staff
- Act as manager on duty as required
- Perform other assigned duties as needed
