The Culinary Service Manager (CSM) at Waltonwood plays a pivotal role in maintaining this high standard of resident care by overseeing and directing all culinary operations within the community. This full-time, in-person position reports directly to the Executive Director and is entrusted with ensuring that all meals served meet exceptional standards for preparation, presentation, taste, and service. With a profound passion for culinary arts and senior care, the CSM is responsible for crafting menus that cater to the nutritional and therapeutic needs of residents, maintaining compliance with local health regulations, and managing inventory and procurement to guarantee resource efficiency. The role requires a dynamic leader who can train and inspire culinary associates while fostering clear communication with residents and families to enhance overall satisfaction. The CSM also collaborates with multiple departments, including Marketing and Life Enrichment, to plan and execute food-related community events and activities. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years executive chef experience
  • ServSafe certification
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain organization
  • Previous senior care experience preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
  • Capacity to stand, walk, bend, twist, squat, and perform repetitive motions
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • Physical stamina to work in environments exposed to varying temperatures and cleaning chemicals

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, certifications, or coursework in culinary service arts, hospitality, or related field preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 5 years previous experience as an executive chef
  • ServSafe certification
  • Previous experience working with seniors preferred
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Experience with point-of-sale systems preferred
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays as needed

Job Duties

  • Maintain a regular cooking schedule to ensure high quality cuisine to the residents
  • Ensure compliance with assisted living regulations, ServSafe program, and local health department regulations
  • Oversee café operations and catering events throughout the community
  • Review and update resident diet notification binder and point-of-sale system, educating culinary associates on residents’ unique needs
  • Manage hiring, training, supervision, payroll, scheduling, and evaluation of the culinary department
  • Adhere to product ordering guides and vendor usage while maintaining adequate inventory of food and supplies
  • Communicate clearly with residents, families, and culinary associates to ensure resident satisfaction
  • Circulate throughout dining areas during meals and attend resident council meetings to resolve issues
  • Collaborate with marketing and life enrichment teams for community events involving food
  • Adhere to budget for food, supplies, and labor
  • Provide necessary reports such as inventory, temperature logs, and associate schedules
  • Ensure dining and kitchen areas are clean, sanitized, and maintained
  • Assist with duties assigned by the Executive Director
