We are currently seeking a skilled Chef to support the Culinary Director in managing kitchen operations within a high-volume commissary-style kitchen. This role is essential to maintaining the highest standards of food safety, quality, and efficient production in an environment focused on bulk food preparation and delivery. The Chef will be pivotal in supervising food production, training and mentoring kitchen staff, coordinating inventory and cost controls, and ensuring strict adherence to health and safety regulations. The ideal candidate will bring at least five years of experience in high-volume kitchen settings, possess a culinary degree or equivalent experience, and demonstrate leadership, organization, and multitasking skills.
As the Chef, duties will span supervising food preparation and packaging to meet production goals, collaborating on seasonal menu execution ensuring consistent food presentation and portion sizes, monitoring inventory and reducing waste, as well as maintaining optimal operational flow through timely meal preparation. The role involves significant team leadership responsibility, including staff training, mentoring, enforcing standard operating procedures for preparation and sanitation, and assisting with hiring and performance evaluations. Additionally, the Chef will collaborate with the Culinary Director on managing food and labor budgets, scheduling, and inventory tracking to maximize cost efficiencies. Ensuring a clean, safe kitchen environment compliant with local health codes and internal protocols will be a continuous focus, with attention given to equipment sanitation and proper storage.
Strong communication skills in English are required, with Spanish language skills considered a plus. Physical demands include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in variable temperature conditions typical of commercial kitchens.
