We are currently seeking a full-time Chef to join our dynamic team and contribute to our mission of delivering outstanding dining experiences. Reporting directly to the Director of Dining Services, the Chef will play a crucial role in planning, coordinating, and implementing a high-quality dining program that satisfies the needs of residents, team members, and guests alike. This leadership position involves overseeing the culinary operations, strengthening the food safety and sanitation programs, and assisting with various management functions within the dining services department.
The Chef will be responsible for managing all kitchen operations, ensuring that meal preparation adheres to established recipes, and maintaining stringent quality standards. They will oversee purchasing, monitor inventory levels, and enforce compliance with health and sanitation regulations as mandated by the HAACP program. This position requires a blend of culinary expertise, management skills, and dedication to service excellence. Job Requirements
- Ability to hold effective meetings
- Ability to complete a Certified Dietary Managers Qualification within a specified time frame
- Ability to learn computer programs as defined by Westminster Communities of Florida
- Ability to work as a member of the dining services management team
Job Qualifications
- 2-year accredited culinary degree or college degree in related subject
- Specialized certification or degree at an approved culinary school
- 6 years similar experience in a high volume, hospitality oriented and customer service focused environment
- Serv Safe certification required or ability to obtain certification within 90 days from date of hire
- Proficiency with computer programs including Microsoft Office
- Proficiency with database types of menu systems for menu forecasting, menu building and recipe creation
- Supervisory leadership
Job Duties
- Manage the entire operations of the kitchen
- Oversee the purchase of food, food supplies and equipment while adhering to budget objectives
- Supervise meal preparation, presentation and quality by ensuring accurate reproduction of recipes by cooks and prep staff
- Perform food inventory and place orders as required
- Ensure that training, safety and discipline standards are met
- Responsible for kitchen staff compliance with sanitation and food safety standards
- Monitor the proper operation of the kitchen equipment and report any equipment failures to the Director
