The Executive Chef position at Compass Group offers an exciting opportunity for an entrepreneurial culinary professional to take charge of kitchen operations in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. This full-time role, with a salary range of $85,000 to $92,000, involves overseeing the preparation of meals adhering to corporate programs and standards, while ensuring a safe and sanitary work environment. As an Executive Chef, the candidate will be responsible for planning menus, training kitchen staff, maintaining inventory, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. This role requires a hands-on approach in managing food quality, portion control, waste documentation, and maintaining cleaning schedules for kitchen equipment and workspaces.

The successful candidate will be deeply involved in maintaining a culture of food safety, sanitation, and operational excellence, taking part in professional development and team meetings. Experience in high-volume, complex foodservice and catering operations is highly desirable; the role demands a strong knowledge of food trends, production techniques, food cost controls, and presentation skills. Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office and communications applications is expected. Job Requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience
  • minimum of 5 years progressive culinary or kitchen management experience
  • hands-on experience as a chef
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
  • ability to train and lead kitchen staff
  • proficiency with computer programs including Microsoft Office and email
  • ability to comply with health and safety regulations
  • ServSafe certification preferred
  • willingness to engage in client satisfaction activities

Job Qualifications

  • A.S. or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of progressive culinary or kitchen management experience
  • extensive catering experience a plus
  • experience in high-volume, complex foodservice operations
  • hands-on chef experience
  • comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends
  • proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office, Outlook, and internet
  • willingness to participate in client satisfaction programs
  • ServSafe certification highly desirable

Job Duties

  • Plan regular and modified menus according to established guidelines
  • follow standardized recipes, portioning and presentation standards
  • complete and utilize daily production worksheets and waste log sheets
  • taste completed meals to ensure quality
  • train kitchen staff in food preparation, safe handling, operation of equipment, food safety and sanitation
  • establish and maintain cleaning and maintenance schedules for equipment, storage and work areas
  • maintain inventory of food and non-food supplies
  • make all decisions regarding utilization of leftover food products
  • comply with federal, state and local health and sanitation regulations
  • participate and attend departmental meetings, staff development, and professional programs
