Job Description
Sodexo is a global leader in quality of life services, dedicated to delivering exceptional culinary experiences along with a wide array of facilities management and integrated solutions worldwide. With a deep commitment to improving the economic, social, and environmental well-being of the communities in which it operates, Sodexo partners with clients in diverse sectors to provide unparalleled service that enhances the lives of customers and employees alike. Known for its inclusive and diverse workplace culture, Sodexo values every individual’s contributions and strives to create an environment where employees feel respected, supported, and empowered. This company culture fosters continuous innovation and growth while promoting fairness and respect throughout its operations. As part of its mission, Sodexo supports employee development and career advancement by offering opportunities such as tuition reimbursement and leadership growth.
We are currently seeking an accomplished Executive Chef 4 to lead the culinary operations at Yale New Haven Hospital (YNHH), York Street Campus, located in New Haven, CT. This senior culinary leadership role is designed for a dynamic professional who is passionate about combining operational excellence with strategic thinking in a fast-paced healthcare environment. The Executive Chef 4 position primarily involves administrative leadership (approximately 80%) alongside hands-on culinary involvement (about 20%), making it a unique blend of strategic oversight and frontline engagement.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing a complex, high-volume food service operation that includes both patient and retail dining services. You will lead a large, unionized team of up to 100 employees, ensuring that all meals meet Sodexo’s stringent standards for taste, presentation, safety, and consistency. Your leadership will foster an environment of collaboration, growth, and accountability across all levels of the culinary team, including managers and frontline staff. Strong experience managing union environments—preferably with SEIU Local 1199—is essential, as you will navigate labor relations with sensitivity and expertise.
Financial stewardship is a critical component of the position, involving oversight of food and labor costs, inventory control, procurement, and contract compliance to ensure the culinary operations are both efficient and fiscally responsible. Partnering with hospital leadership and cross-functional teams, you will help drive operational improvements and align culinary services with the hospital’s broader strategic goals. Additionally, you will maintain strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and regulatory standards, including HACCP, ServSafe, and Joint Commission guidelines.
Sodexo offers a competitive and equitable compensation package that reflects candidates' education, experience, and skills. Beyond salary, the company provides a comprehensive benefits program that includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, wellness programs, paid time off, company holidays, a 401(k) plan with matching contributions, and career growth opportunities including tuition reimbursement. This role is ideal for a motivated leader who is committed to long-term growth and dedicated to evolving and enhancing culinary programs in a healthcare setting. Joining Sodexo means becoming part of a company that values diversity, inclusion, and employee well-being while making a meaningful difference in the quality of life for patients and staff at Yale New Haven Hospital.
