The role of an Executive Chef 3 at Waco ISD, offered by Sodexo, presents an exciting opportunity for culinary professionals passionate about leadership, innovation, and quality control within a K-12 educational environment. This full-time position is strategically important as the Executive Chef will have direct oversight of culinary operations across multiple school sites within the district. The primary responsibility includes culinary training, food quality assurance, menu compliance, as well as managing catering functions and culinary promotions aimed at boosting student meal participation.

The Executive Chef will be managing diverse aspects of the culinary service such as purchasing, inventory management, and food cost analysis, ensuring that operations adhere to both Sodexo’s high standards and USDA culinary regulations. Utilizing the PrimeroEdge food management system, this role offers the chance to work with advanced operational technology to streamline food production and inventory control across multiple units efficiently. Additionally, menu development is a key pillar of this role, requiring creativity and up-to-date knowledge of culinary trends to maintain exciting and nutritious offerings for the student population.

This position requires someone with strong leadership and communication skills capable of motivating, coaching, and mentoring hourly frontline staff to foster a positive work environment and consistently deliver excellent customer service. The Executive Chef will also ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards, maintaining a safe and hygienic culinary operation.

Job Requirements

  • bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • minimum 3 years management experience
  • minimum 3 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
  • ability to motivate, coach and mentor staff
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • strong communication skills
  • familiarity with food management systems
  • commitment to high culinary standards

Job Duties

  • be responsible for purchasing, menu compliance, inventory, food cost analysis and food production

  • oversee catering functions within Waco ISD and Sodexo's neighboring K-12 accounts
