Within Sodexo's Campus Segment, the Executive Chef 2 position offers a unique leadership opportunity to join the vibrant culinary team at Providence College in Providence, Rhode Island. This private Catholic university serves approximately 4,500 students and values a rich and engaging dining experience that supports student life and campus culture. In this executive culinary role, the successful candidate will oversee operations within a newly renovated, state-of-the-art kitchen located in Raymond Dining Hall, a central hub for student dining services.

The Executive Chef 2 will be the lead culinarians responsible for driving culinary excellence, fostering innovation, and ensuring consistency across all food service operations including residential dining, retail outlets, and high-end catering services. This role requires an individual who is passionate about culinary arts, student-centered food experiences, and operational efficiency. As a key contributor to menu development and culinary strategy, the Executive Chef will set the tone for creativity and quality, integrating trending cuisines and contemporary food culture to meet evolving student preferences and dietary needs.

Collaboration is a cornerstone of this role, working closely with campus partners and Sodexo leadership to enhance overall dining satisfaction and engagement. The Executive Chef will also play a vital role in culinary team development by sharing best practices, mentoring frontline staff, and implementing training programs that uplift skills and foster a culture of continuous learning. Key responsibilities extend to managing food purchasing processes, inventory control, recipe adherence, cost management, and production forecasting to maintain both quality and profitability.

Job Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 2 years management experience
  • Minimum 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.

Job Duties

  • Lead all culinary operations including menu development, production, presentation, and quality standards
  • Drive innovation to bring trending, student-focused cuisine to residential, retail, and catering programs
  • Manage food purchasing, inventory, recipe compliance, cost controls, and production forecasting
  • Ensure adherence to Sodexo culinary standards, food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety protocols
  • Train, mentor, and inspire culinary and frontline staff
