The Executive Chef 2 position at Sodexo's Showa Boston Institute represents a high-visibility leadership role within a large-scale dining operation. This full-time role is ideal for an experienced culinary professional seeking challenging opportunities and a rewarding environment in the heart of Boston. The Executive Chef will provide comprehensive culinary leadership, overseeing all aspects of menu planning, program execution, staff management, and training to ensure quality and excellence in food service. This role demands an individual with strong culinary expertise and management skills to lead retail and catering chefs, purchasing agents, and catering managers effectively.

Key responsibilities include overseeing menu production, inventory control, HACCP compliance, and maintaining kitchen cleanliness according to Sodexo’s established culinary systems and quality benchmarks. The Executive Chef will also be responsible for conducting training programs that guide chefs towards certification by the American Culinary Federation (ACF), managing annual staff evaluations, and ensuring strict adherence to food safety standards through audits and documentation. Partnering with vendors on procurement and managing purchasing audits are critical to maintaining operational and financial efficiency.

In addition to operational oversight, this role involves developing innovative menus for retail, catering, and banquet services aimed at enhancing the client dining experience and strengthening client relationships. The Executive Chef will actively engage with students, faculty, and staff to foster positive interactions and elevate the overall service quality. Job Requirements

  • Minimum education requirement - associate's degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum management experience - 2 years
  • Minimum functional experience - 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
  • Culinary certification highly preferred
  • Ability to manage resident dining operations and catering production
  • Strong understanding of food safety compliance and HACCP standards
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills
  • Ability to develop and implement marketing plans for dining services
