Archer Hotel Napa is a distinguished boutique hotel situated in the heart of downtown Napa, California. This elegant hotel offers a refined and indulgent experience featuring 183 luxurious rooms and suites, many with private balconies that showcase stunning views of the Napa Valley. The property is famed for its vibrant upscale amenities such as the Sky & Vine Rooftop Bar, Water Deck, Rooftop Spa, and Fitness Studio, along with over 22,000 square feet of versatile indoor and outdoor event spaces. The hotel is currently seeking an Executive Chef to lead its culinary team. The selected individual will play a critical leadership role, responsible for overseeing all culinary operations and team development while maintaining exceptional quality, creativity, and guest satisfaction. The Executive Chef will ensure that the food preparation and presentation align with the high standards Archer Hotel Napa is known for. This role requires a visionary leader with a passion for innovative cuisine and a commitment to excellence in hospitality. The employment type is full-time with an annual salary range of $115,000 to $125,000, plus eligibility for bonuses.

The Executive Chef's responsibilities include conducting regular inspections of food preparation areas to ensure quality, sanitation, and compliance with company standards. The individual will coordinate training activities, develop recipes and portion specifications tailored to consumer tastes and nutritional needs, and manage budget constraints effectively. Collaboration with the Sales staff is essential to support catering, banquets, and restaurant operations. Strong leadership skills are crucial, as the role involves staff recruitment, development, and performance management, including conducting reviews and facilitating communication.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in culinary arts or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a senior leadership culinary role preferably in a luxury hotel or fine dining environment
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights weekends and holidays
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods lift up to 60 pounds bend stoop and reach overhead
  • Must be team-oriented with a passion for hospitality

  • Ability to adapt to change and solve problems effectively

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in culinary arts hospitality management or related field preferred

Job Duties

  • Direct and oversee all culinary operations including production of all hotel meals food quality and presentation
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and sanitation standards and regulations
  • Create recipes and production standards
  • Assist with all performance reviews and monthly one-on-ones
  • Address and resolve guest and employee concerns
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of all food and beverage menus
  • Ensure that the department is staffed sufficiently for each meal period
  • Maintain P&L authority over the assigned location and department
  • Identify talent both internally and externally interview hire and onboard new associates with the intention of finding future leaders
  • Inspect all food service stations during service time to ensure that correct standards and cleanliness are maintained
  • Ensure the general cleanliness of the heart-of-house
  • Ensure the completion of all opening and closing procedures by BOH employees
  • Ensure compliance with all Department of Health and company sanitation standards
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of local and international market trends to create food products that satisfy guests needs thereby maximizing sales opportunities
  • Understand employee positions well enough to perform duties in employees' absence or during peak periods
  • Conduct attend all departmental meetings
  • Support in meeting or exceeding budgeted sales and profit goals maintain labor efficiency ratios to ensure guest service and cost effectiveness
  • Monitor and control food and beverage inventories
  • Manage food preparation
  • Develop and implement guidelines and control procedures for purchasing and receiving
  • Work with Food and Beverage Director on capital expenditure needs
  • Assist in any other task or duties as requested by management
