Discover Your Purpose with us at Discovery Village Chevy Chase, where we are currently seeking an Executive Chef. This full-time role offers a salary range of $82,000 to $85,000 annually and is located in Chevy Chase, Maryland. As an Executive Chef, you will be instrumental in enriching the lives of seniors by creating exceptional culinary experiences that connect meaningfully with residents and families. You will oversee culinary operations including menu planning, food procurement, recipe development, and day-to-day kitchen management to ensure consistent quality, safety, and nutrition. Your responsibilities extend to maintaining food budgets, managing vendor relationships, supervising culinary staff, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with community leadership to maintain high satisfaction levels among residents and families, contributing directly to the overall excellence of the senior living experience. The role also offers opportunities for leadership and career advancement within a dynamic and purpose-driven organization committed to making a positive impact on the lives it touches.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • prior culinary experience preferably in senior living or similar settings
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • experience with budget management
  • strong leadership and supervisory skills
  • excellent communication skills
  • proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office
  • ability to work flexible hours including some weekends and holidays
  • physical ability to perform kitchen duties
  • willingness to comply with background checks and regulatory requirements

Job Duties

  • Assist in planning, preparation, and execution of special events, banquets, and themed meals
  • produce creative menus and recipes using high-quality ingredients within budget
  • manage monthly and annual food and beverage budgets
  • review and adjust menus according to seasonal and supply conditions
  • maintain purchasing standards and vendor relationships
  • report monthly inventory of food and beverage supplies
  • interview, hire, and train culinary and back of the house staff
  • supervise kitchen staff including scheduling, performance review, and compliance with policies
  • collaborate with leadership to maintain customer satisfaction and health survey scores
  • ensure dietary needs and food safety standards are met
  • conduct regular meetings with residents and families to ensure satisfaction
  • perform other duties as assigned
