The Executive Chef role at StoryPoint Waterville is a pivotal position responsible for overseeing all culinary and dining department operations. This role requires a dynamic leader with a passion for upscale dining and a commitment to excellence in food quality, presentation, and customer satisfaction. The Executive Chef manages retail sales, special events planning, food cost control, inventory management, and the enforcement of safety and sanitation standards. They are entrusted with ensuring 100% resident satisfaction through impeccable plate presentation and taste by regularly engaging with residents during meal times and gathering their feedback to continuously enhance dining experiences. Additionally, the Executive Chef is instrumental in hiring, coaching, and developing culinary staff, including Sous Chefs and Lead Cooks, to build a strong leadership pipeline within the team.
The position demands strong financial management skills in culinary labor, food purchasing, and small ware operations and requires competency in menu development, pricing, recipe creation, and standardization. The Executive Chef maintains quality standards and presentation techniques, ensures equipment operates safely and efficiently, and manages special catering events, providing culinary instruction when necessary. This role necessitates a positive, team-focused attitude that promotes good public relations with residents, their families, and guests. The Executive Chef also periodically functions as Manager on Duty alongside the site leadership team, contributing to overall community success. The role involves standing for extended periods, occasional lifting, detailed document review, and working in a moderate noise environment. Job Duties
- Achieve 100% resident satisfaction through plate presentation and taste
- Establish presentation techniques and ensure quality standards
- Hire, coach, train, inspire and direct culinary staff
- Maintain proper scheduling and conduct employee reviews
- Develop Sous Chef and Lead Cook to assume additional leadership roles
- Manage food control, labor costs, menu engineering, and recipe standardization
- Ensure proper equipment operation, safety and sanitation policies
- Oversee special catering events and provide culinary instruction or demonstrations
- Maintain a positive attitude supporting a team environment
- Promote positive public relations with residents, families and guests
- Function as Manager on Duty as scheduled with site leadership team
