Job Description

The Restaurant at North Block, located in the vibrant culinary heart of Yountville, Napa Valley, is a MICHELIN-recommended dining establishment that is part of the Mosaic Hotel Collection. As a distinguished restaurant nestled within the North Block Hotel, which has been honored as the number one hotel in Northern California by Condé Nast Traveler's Readers' Choice Awards, it offers guests a refined yet relaxed experience. The restaurant is celebrated for blending sophisticated design with eclectic elements, providing personal and attentive service, and featuring a menu that is both elevated and approachable. This creates an ideal setting for both locals and travelers seeking extraordinary culinary experiences. The Restaurant at North Block is a flagship venue within the Napa Valley's most concentrated culinary destination, known not only for its award-winning service but also for its commitment to celebrating local flavors and innovative California cuisine. The establishment has earned accolades such as Travel+Leisure's World's Best and Condé Nast Traveler Reader's Choice awards, underscoring its status as a premier dining location that balances elegance and comfort seamlessly.

We are currently seeking an Executive Chef to lead the next chapter of this celebrated restaurant. This rare opportunity calls for a culinary leader who brings a creative vision and operational expertise to enhance the guest experience, evolve the menu thoughtfully, and contribute to strategic growth initiatives such as expanding service into additional dayparts including lunch and brunch. The Executive Chef holds sole culinary responsibility for the restaurant and oversees the entire food and beverage operation, encompassing the dining room, bar, Happiest Hour offerings, in-room dining, and private events. Working closely with the Restaurant General Manager, this role demands a collaborative approach to ensure seamless service that spans front and back of house functions. The position requires a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as well as availability to respond to operational needs beyond standard hours.

The Executive Chef will manage all facets of kitchen operations, including short- and long-term planning, menu development and pricing, equipment and budget management, cost control, and profitability oversight. As the kitchen leader, they maintain complete control over daily activities, oversee hiring and team development, and set high standards for food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety. This leadership role requires commanding respect, inspiring the kitchen team, and serving as a professional role model and mentor. The ideal candidate possesses a strong point of view on California cuisine, a commitment to approachable hospitality, and the creativity to craft menus suitable for varied occasions from intimate dinners to casual weekday meals. Offering a salary range of $125,000 to $135,000 per year, this full-time position is part of Palisades Hospitality’s Mosaic Hotel Group, which manages over 20 boutique hotels and restaurants with a focus on immersive, design-driven guest experiences grounded in local culture. Employees benefit from comprehensive health plans, retirement options, paid time off, and exclusive travel and dining discounts across sister properties. This is an exceptional career prospect for a passionate culinary professional eager to leave an impactful legacy in a top-tier hospitality environment.
