This pivotal role involves leading daily food service operations within an assigned residence hall. As a Kitchen Manager/Chef, the individual is responsible for delivering fresh, homemade meals that meet the high standards set by Upper Crust Food Service. The position entails not only culinary expertise but also strong leadership capabilities to ensure the kitchen operates efficiently and in compliance with all health and safety regulations. The Kitchen Manager/Chef acts as the backbone of the kitchen, overseeing food preparation, inventory management, menu planning, staff hiring and training, and client relations.

Working full-time, with a schedule that may vary to include evenings and weekends, this role offers an annual salary range of $48,000 to $50,000 in locations such as Borger, TX and Amarillo, TX. This employment opportunity is ideal for experienced chefs or kitchen leaders who seek a dynamic environment where they can apply their passion for food and leadership skills to positively impact the dining experiences of collegiate residents.

In addition to daily kitchen oversight, the Kitchen Manager plays an essential role in managing budgets by monitoring food costs and supporting budget adherence. They also ensure the kitchen maintains a clean and safe working environment that complies with all food safety standards, including ServSafe certification requirements. This position offers the chance to help shape the culinary experience at one of the nation's prominent food service providers dedicated to Sororities and Fraternities, fostering a culture of excellence and consistency in college dining.

Job Requirements

  • 2+ years of chef or kitchen leadership experience or equivalent
  • strong knowledge of food preparation, menu planning, and kitchen operations
  • ability to lead a team, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively
  • ServSafe Food Protection Manager certification or ability to obtain
  • ability to work in a kitchen environment with exposure to heat, equipment, and noise
  • ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs
  • availability to work full-time including evenings and weekends

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Plan, prepare, and serve meals in accordance with menus and quality standards
  • order, receive, and manage inventory
  • submit invoices and receipts accurately and timely
  • develop and post weekly menus as directed
  • maintain kitchen cleanliness and ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations
  • support hiring, training, and daily oversight of kitchen staff
  • monitor food costs and support budget adherence
  • build positive relationships with clients, residents, and stakeholders
  • assist with special events and perform general kitchen duties as needed
