Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's culinary degree
  • Food safety and sanitation certification
  • 7-10 years of senior-level culinary experience in grocery store or similar environment
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and troubleshoot effectively
  • Detail-oriented with organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under staff and labor constraints in a fast-paced environment
  • Above average math and computer skills

Job Duties

  • Ensure the salad bar and displays are merchandised with appropriate signage
  • Ensure displays are full and rotated properly
  • Provide direction for day-to-day kitchen operations using production scheduling tools
  • Review operational reports to identify improvement opportunities
  • Place orders with vendors and manage transfers
  • Maintain accurate daily and monthly inventories
  • Participate in departmental strategy and communication meetings
  • Assist in hiring, promoting, and training culinary team members
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback
  • Manage team disciplinary procedures
  • Ensure compliance with health codes and safety regulations maintaining a high health department rating
  • Oversee daily and periodic department cleaning
  • Cycle menus for hot and cold buffet on a bimonthly basis
  • Facilitate training sessions and workshops for culinary staff
  • Monitor and manage financial goals including labor and food costs
  • Support menu planning for major holidays
  • Conduct team communication huddles and meetings to foster morale and engagement
  • Uphold the company mission that the customer is always right
  • Cultivate relationships with local culinary schools for internships
  • Cross-train team members across different areas of the department
  • Review and audit internal and external product transfers
  • Implement cost control measures while maintaining food quality and customer satisfaction
