Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- minimum 5 years cooking and large-scale meal preparation experience
- knowledge of USDA School Nutrition Program
- ability to stand for up to 8 hours
- ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
- completion of background check
- physical capability for kitchen operations including bending and lifting
- experience with diverse racial and cultural populations
- strong communication skills

Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- associate's degree preferred
- minimum 5 years experience in large-scale commercial kitchen
- experience in schools, daycares or senior living preferred

Job Duties
- Prepare and cook foods for three meals daily for over 400 students
- ensure all meals follow the Healthy Meals Program without canned goods or preservatives
- operate kitchen equipment for food preparation
- trim and cut meat, poultry or fish following recipes
- taste and check production to plan food requirements
- attend trainings and implement USDA School Nutrition Program requirements
- ensure compliance with National School Lunch, Breakfast and Afterschool Snack Programs
- record meals per USDA guidelines
- create and post compliant monthly menus
- schedule and ensure successful food safety inspections
- update Food Safety Plan annually
- create and place food procurement orders within budget
- engage in strategic kitchen operations planning
- oversee equipment repairs
- receive and inventory food and supplies including lifting heavy items
- maintain cleanliness and professionalism in kitchen
- follow waste disposal procedures and dishwashing protocols
- develop kitchen work plans and conduct staff reviews
- lead kitchen team with patience and respect
- provide quality service to school community and guests
- build positive culture and relationships
- follow mealtime schedules and coordinate with school leaders
- manage dining set-up and food delivery
- assist with special school events
