Ingersoll Theater, managed by VenuWorks, is a historic venue located in the vibrant Avenues District of Des Moines, Iowa. This iconic theater is preparing to reopen in November 2025 after undergoing an extensive restoration to preserve its charm while modernizing its facilities. Job Requirements
- Must be able to work event-driven schedule including evenings, weekends, holidays
- Current valid driver’s license
- Must have or be able to obtain local, state or federal food production management certifications
- Ability to become ServSafe certified
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and electronically
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions and written materials
- Ability to write reports and business correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
- Ability to follow health, safety, and sanitation guidelines
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work in moderately noisy environments
Job Qualifications
- Culinary degree preferred or five years experience in food and beverage or culinary management in a high-volume operation
- Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, point of sale systems and digital menu boards
- Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices
- Ability to work an event-driven schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Strong customer focus and professionalism
- Integrity, trustworthiness, and excellent communication skills
- Ability to foster teamwork and contribute positively to workplace culture
Job Duties
- Develop and design innovative menus in conjunction with the Executive Director
- Oversee daily kitchen operations ensuring efficient workflow and compliance with regulations
- Lead, mentor, and manage kitchen staff fostering teamwork and growth
- Implement control measures including portions, inventory, purchasing, and waste
- Monitor food inventory levels and order supplies while maintaining cost control
- Collaborate with front-of-house management to ensure seamless service
- Conduct regular staff training on food preparation, safety, and menu items
- Create recipe cards including ingredients, costs, and methods
- Ensure consistent food quality and presentation throughout the venue
- Regularly evaluate customer satisfaction of menus and services
