Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Culinary or hospitality degree preferred
  • Minimum 5 years management experience in a food service environment
  • Preferably experience in senior living
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
  • ServSafe Food Safety Manager Certification or willingness to complete within 60 days
  • Interest in working with seniors
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and fast-paced environment
  • Proficient organizational and computer skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to remain calm and professional during stressful situations
  • Must be able to perform physical demands including standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 50lbs
  • Willingness to work weekends and evenings as required

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Work with the Executive Director to plan and oversee community dining services and initiate action plans
  • Coordinate menus for activity and marketing functions by consulting with relevant departments
  • Control food cost and waste while maintaining high-quality food
  • Work weekends and evenings as required for shift coverage and quality checks
  • Take food inventory monthly or as instructed and ensure inventory control
  • Manage and control monthly expenditures to match budget
  • Make daily inspections to ensure sanitation guidelines are followed
  • Engage with residents during meals via table touches
  • Maintain and communicate records of resident diet requirements
  • Order raw food and supplies within budget
  • Assist in meal preparation and cover cooks/chefs during absences
  • Prepare shift scheduling for kitchen and front of house staff
  • Assist in menu planning for residents’ nutritional needs
  • Monitor cleaning schedule to meet standards
  • Maintain records of coaching and disciplinary actions
  • Participate in sales processes for potential residents
  • Plan menus according to cultural and dietary guidelines
  • Adjust recipes to appropriate yield
  • Monitor food quality, consistency, portion control, and attractiveness
  • Observe staff preparing and garnishing foods
  • Cook, carve meats, prepare dishes
  • Order and validate food and chemical supplies
  • Conduct quality assurance audits
  • Oversee safe and sanitary food handling and loss prevention
  • Select, schedule, and conduct orientation and training for kitchen and front of house personnel
  • Monitor monthly expenditures and explain variances
  • Adhere to MBK policies and resident rights
  • Report incidents immediately
  • Establish and maintain relationships with coworkers, residents, families, and visitors
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Promote teamwork in resident services
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director
