The Culinary and Nutrition Services Manager role is essential to this mission, tasked with maintaining and administering culinary and nutrition services while ensuring operational efficiency among staff members. This role involves creating and upholding patient and retail service standards, conducting sanitation and performance audits, and overseeing compliance with purchasing agreements and regulatory guidelines. The manager directs various non-interactive positions such as storeroom clerks and cooks, maintaining infection control practices and fostering communication to maximize patient satisfaction. Frequent patient rounding and collaboration with other departments ensure the nutritional services align with both regulatory standards and patient needs.
Additionally, this position plays an active role in staff development by identifying learning opportunities, conducting job shadowing audits, and providing coaching to meet service standards. The manager also contributes to menu development for patient, cafeteria, and catering services, with a focus on culinary excellence, sustainability, innovation, and food waste reduction. Planning for special events and catering, along with participation in hospital committees, further expands the responsibilities of this vital role. Job Requirements
- High school diploma required
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to read, write and speak English
- Basic computer skills
- Associate's degree in Culinary Arts or Hospitality Management preferred
- Commensurate experience may be considered in lieu of degree
- Food Service Safe Certification (CPFS) preferred
- Ability to perform medium work involving exerting up to 50lbs occasionally, up to 20lbs frequently, and up to 10lbs constantly
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Assist with creating patient and retail service standards and ensure they are met
- Conduct sanitation audits and performance audits consistently per departmental frequencies
- Identify current learning needs and opportunities for staff and manage training processes
- Follow purchasing agreements and compliance goals set by departmental leadership
- Direct non-interactive patient positions including storeroom clerks and cooks and maintain regulatory compliance
- Maintain communication with staff and customers regarding service levels and promote patient satisfaction
- Conduct frequent patient rounding and visitations
- Ensure nutrition programs meet regulatory standards and coordinate with other departments
- Maintain adequate staffing reflecting cost efficiency and manage recruitment and performance
- Conduct job shadowing audits and provide coaching to staff
- Collaborate in menu development prioritizing culinary excellence, innovation, sustainability, and food waste reduction
- Participate in hospital committees
- Oversee and plan menus for special events and catering and assist at multiple campuses as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
