Sodexo Live! is currently seeking a highly skilled and passionate Executive Chef for the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, IL. The Griffin Museum of Science and Industry is one of the largest science museums worldwide, encompassing over 400,000 square feet of interactive exhibits designed to inspire scientific curiosity and creativity among visitors. Established initially during the 1933 Century of Progress and housed in a historic 1893 Columbian Exposition building, the museum has become a landmark destination where generations gather to explore and witness scientific advancements. The Executive Chef will play an essential role in enriching the visitor experience through innovative culinary creations that not only complement but elevate the museum's educational and cultural objectives.
The Executive Chef position entails leading and managing the culinary team with strong leadership and a commitment to culinary excellence. This role demands a deep passion for food, creativity in developing seasonal menus, and expertise in managing kitchen operations in a high-volume environment. The Executive Chef will oversee all aspects of food production, from selecting and standardizing recipes to ensuring optimal presentation and quality while enforcing rigorous food safety and sanitation standards. This leadership position requires managing the kitchen staff, including an executive sous chef and sous chefs, fostering a collaborative environment, and mentoring team members to perform at their best.
Budget management is a critical responsibility, as the Executive Chef will monitor food costs, labor, and waste to ensure financial efficiency without compromising quality. Collaboration with museum staff is essential to align culinary offerings with the museum's themes and events, including creating special menus and culinary experiences for exhibitions and educational programs.
