Job Description
Greek House Chefs (GHC) is a specialized culinary service provider, focusing on delivering high-quality, bespoke dining experiences to Greek houses on university campuses. The company is known for its commitment to excellent food preparation, innovative menu planning, rigorous quality standards, and exceptional customer service within the niche market it serves. GHC prides itself on maintaining strong partnerships with vendors, managing budgets effectively, and fostering positive client relationships, thus ensuring a consistent, high-caliber culinary service. Their establishments are primarily kitchens located within Greek house residences, where the focus is on catering to the particular preferences and nutritional needs of the residents while adhering to strict hygiene and safety standards. The work environment not only demands culinary expertise but also a significant degree of management, strategic planning, and operational oversight to guarantee smooth kitchen functionality and customer satisfaction.
The Executive Chef role at GHC is a crucial leadership position responsible for managing and directing all culinary activities within the GHC Kitchen they operate. This role encompasses comprehensive oversight of kitchen operations, including training kitchen staff, planning innovative menus that meet and exceed quality standards, managing food purchasing, and controlling the culinary budget effectively. The Executive Chef serves as the primary liaison between the kitchen and both house management and GHC corporate management, ensuring that all client expectations are met and any issues are promptly addressed. Responsibilities include maintaining the nutritional balance and cost-effectiveness of menus, ensuring cleanliness and sanitation standards beyond minimal compliance, and regularly conducting quality control inspections.
In addition to operational responsibilities, the Executive Chef is tasked with recruiting and managing a competent kitchen team, scheduling employee hours, and ensuring adherence to health and safety protocols. The role requires active engagement with the GHC App to submit menus and budgets timely and to monitor feedback and reviews. The Executive Chef also participates in food committee meetings to maintain alignment with client expectations and plans special events that occur up to three times per semester. This professional is expected to maintain a professional appearance, adhere to workplace safety procedures, and be willing to transfer to other worksites as required. The position demands a significant commitment with a minimum work week of 45-50 hours and requires flexibility for special events and active participation in training programs. Overall, the role combines high culinary standards with strong administrative and interpersonal skills to ensure that GHC continues to deliver superior dining experiences consistently.
