Job Description

Children's Health is a leading pediatric healthcare organization dedicated to making life better for children. Affiliated with the prestigious UT Southwestern Medical Center, Children's Health provides cutting-edge treatments and comprehensive care services designed specifically for infants, children, and adolescents. With an unwavering commitment to extraordinary patient and family experiences, the organization emphasizes a holistic approach to pediatric health. Beyond its medical services, Children's Health actively engages with the community to promote children’s wellness and a healthier future for all. This commitment is reflected in their diverse team and inclusive culture, striving to create an environment where every patient and employee feels valued and respected.

The Environmental Services (EVS) Tech I position at Children's Health, located in Plano, is a vital role contributing to the overall patient experience and safety. This temporary, on-site role involves maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and safety standards within the hospital environment. The EVS Tech I ensures that patient care areas, corridors, and support spaces meet rigorous infection control and cleanliness standards as guided by the Association for Health Care Environment (AHE). The role includes performing routine and corrective cleaning duties such as dusting, vacuuming, waste disposal, disinfecting surfaces, and wet mopping.

This position requires an individual who can work across all shifts, offering flexibility and dedication to maintaining a safe and pleasant environment for patients, their families, hospital staff, and visitors. There is an emphasis on patient privacy adherence (HIPAA compliance) and strict observance of hospital safety protocols. The EVS Tech I also plays an important role in infection prevention, cleaning emergency spills, and reacting promptly to cleaning needs communicated through systems like EPIC. Exceptional attention to detail and a proactive mindset are critical for success in this role.

As an entry-level position within Environmental Services, this role welcomes candidates with some related cleaning or housekeeping experience – ideally six months – and a high school diploma or GED. Preferred certifications include those from the Association for Health Care Environment, which denote recognized expertise in healthcare environmental services. While this listing is initially for a temporary position, there is potential for permanent placement based on performance and accountability. Joining Children's Health means becoming part of a team dedicated to care, respect, and continuous professional growth, with access to holistic benefits designed to support employees both personally and professionally. This role is perfect for individuals who value working in a team-oriented, high-impact healthcare environment, contributing directly to the well-being of pediatric patients and the cleanliness standards of a leading children’s hospital.
