The current opening is for an Environmental Services Technician role. This position is vital to maintaining the cleanliness and safety of PrairieCare’s facilities, ensuring that the environment supports the therapeutic and recovery needs of patients. As part of the Environmental Services team, incumbents are responsible for cleaning and servicing patient rooms, group rooms, offices, and common areas to uphold the highest environmental service standards. The role demands a keen attention to detail and a thorough understanding of cleaning protocols, joint commission standards, and infection control guidelines. Technicians utilize various industrial cleaning machines and equipment, perform floor care using specialized tools, and manage general waste and supply stocking to foster a safe and pleasant atmosphere.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Prior experience in environmental services preferred
  • Familiarity with Joint Commission standards and CDC safety guidelines
  • Ability to operate industrial cleaning equipment
  • Strong multitasking skills
  • Willingness to learn new cleaning techniques and use equipment
  • Good communication skills

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Thorough knowledge of Environmental Services procedures, generally gained through prior Environmental Service experience
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission standards and CDC safety guidelines as they pertain to maintaining a clean and safe work environment preferred
  • Knowledge of various industrial cleaning machines preferred
  • Ability to multitask and use supplies in a safe and cost effective manner
  • Willing and able to learn carpet/floor care machines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products preferred

Job Duties

  • Change linens and clean units including patient rooms, group rooms, offices and common areas
  • Cleaning and extracting all floor surfaces utilizing floor care equipment, maintaining floor care equipment
  • Washing interior and exterior windows
  • Trash removal and stock supplies
  • Maintain safety throughout facility by complying with Joint Commission standards, Infection Control Protocols and other PrairieCare policies
  • After training, staff should be able to manage disruptive or explosive patients, with the emphasis on personal safety/protection
