Job Description

Hotel Magdalena and Hotel Saint Cecilia are iconic boutique hotels located in the heart of Austin, Texas, steeped in rich history and cultural heritage. Hotel Magdalena is set on grounds once home to the Terrace Motor Hotel, a mid-century motor lodge famous in the 1950s and 1960s for its vibrant poolside restaurant and lounge that hosted musical acts. Today, Hotel Magdalena honors its musical lineage by offering a unique event space and programming that includes clandestine concerts, visits from renowned chefs, and other cultural gatherings that epitomize the relaxed spirit of lake life and Austin's vibrant music scene.

Hotel Saint Cecilia complements its neighbor with a secluded, intimate retreat surrounded by lush grounds and a majestic oak tree. The hotel, originally an 1888 Victorian home restored with great care and adorned with the iconic SOUL sign, offers an exclusive sanctuary featuring elegant suites, poolside bungalows, garden suites, and studios. Its guests enjoy a sense of privacy and old-world luxury blended with modern artistic influences inspired by notable muses. Both hotels are dedicated to delivering exceptional guest experiences through their commitment to history, culture, and hospitality.

The Event Service Manager role is pivotal in bringing the Director of Food & Beverage's vision to life. This full-time position involves collaborating closely with the Sales and Marketing teams to ensure seamless event execution within both Hotel Magdalena and Hotel Saint Cecilia. The Manager is responsible for leading and inspiring the event services team, maintaining consistency in service standards, and elevating both tangible outcomes and intangible guest experiences. Strong communication skills and problem-solving abilities are essential, as the Manager must skillfully handle conflict resolution and uphold the hotels’ policies and values.

This role demands a leader who fosters a positive work environment, motivating the team to consistently improve and take ownership of delivering outstanding service. In addition to managing daily event operations, the Event Service Manager plays a critical role in shaping and maintaining the company culture, values, and reputation among staff, guests, vendors, and partners. The Manager is expected to be actively present, innovative, and engaged in community outreach efforts, ensuring the hotels remain leaders in the industry and preferred destinations for guests and employees alike.

The position requires oversight of event labor, inventory controls, compliance with all relevant regulations, and maintaining the quality and safety of event spaces. The Manager also supports the hiring, training, coaching, and disciplinary processes, ensuring a skilled and motivated team. Additionally, the role involves collaborating with other department heads to create a cohesive, supportive organizational culture aligned with the brand's distinct standards of service and hospitality.

Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401K plan with a company match, complimentary and discounted room rates at Hyatt Hotels, generous paid time off, wellbeing initiatives like free Headspace subscriptions, and various employee discounts. This comprehensive benefits package reflects the company's commitment to employee welfare and work-life balance.

Overall, the Event Service Manager will play a vital role in ensuring the hotels deliver memorable events that resonate with their rich heritage and unique character, providing guests with exceptional experiences while fostering a thriving, positive workplace environment for the team.
