Job Description

The Pfister Hotel, a celebrated name in downtown Milwaukee, has been an icon of luxury and impeccable service since its establishment in 1893. With a rich history spanning over 130 years, The Pfister has consistently upheld its status as one of the premier hotels in Milwaukee and the Midwest. Renowned for a grand tradition of gracious service and exceptional style, the hotel has proudly maintained its AAA Four Diamond rating for more than five decades. This prestigious recognition reflects the hotel's unwavering commitment to excellence in hospitality and guest experiences. As part of the distinguished Marcus Hotels & Resorts division of The Marcus Corporation, The Pfister benefits from a legacy of operational and service excellence that has been cultivated over 60 years. Marcus Hotels & Resorts is known for its portfolio of unique and character-rich properties throughout the United States, dedicated to creating extraordinary experiences for both guests and associates.

The Pfister Hotel is currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Event Manager to join its team. This salaried, exempt position offers competitive pay based on experience and positions the successful candidate at the heart of a dynamic hospitality environment. As an Event Manager at The Pfister, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of event planning and execution for a variety of occasions, including corporate meetings, weddings, and social events. In this role, you will collaborate closely with clients, sales managers, and vendors to understand their needs and translate them into detailed event plans. Managing timelines, diagrams, banquet event orders (BEOs), and on-site logistics will be a key part of your responsibilities, ensuring events unfold flawlessly.

Your role will require effective coordination with various departments within the hotel, such as culinary, banquet, audiovisual, and front office teams, to guarantee seamless event delivery. Financial management is also a critical component, as you will oversee event budgets, billing, and post-event reporting. Acting as the main on-site contact during events, you will provide hands-on leadership, swiftly addressing any challenges to maintain the highest standards. Building and maintaining strong relationships with repeat clients and local organizations will be essential to the continued success and reputation of The Pfister's event services. The ideal candidate will bring at least two years of event management experience within a hotel, venue, or professional setting, possess strong project management and organizational skills, and exhibit exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities. Familiarity with event software solutions like Delphi, Opera, or Social Tables is advantageous, and flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is required.

Joining The Pfister means becoming part of a team that values not only guest satisfaction but also the development and well-being of its associates. Benefits include paid time off, competitive wages, early wage access, and various employee discounts such as on-site parking, dry cleaning, and dining. With career growth opportunities and the possibility to transfer between Marcus properties, associates are supported in building long-term careers. Health insurance eligibility begins after 30 days, complemented by company-paid life insurance, along with access to employee assistance programs. Complimentary meals during shifts and room discounts at Marcus Hotels & Resorts and affiliated properties further enhance the working experience. This is an exceptional opportunity for individuals passionate about hospitality and event management to contribute to the iconic legacy of The Pfister Hotel.
