The institution fosters diversity, inclusion, and accessibility in all its endeavors, aiming to prepare graduates for impactful careers in a rapidly evolving world. With state-of-the-art facilities and a dedication to cutting-edge technology, RIT is a hub for creativity and professional development situated in Rochester, New York. The university values integrity, respect, and continuous improvement as it serves a diverse community of learners and partners.
The Events & Operations Manager role at RIT plays a crucial part in supporting the vibrant campus community by overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of events across three premier University Arenas venues: the Lobozzo Alumni House, the University Gallery, and the CIMS Conference Center. This position is responsible for ensuring that every event runs smoothly through meticulous logistics management, venue setup, vendor coordination, and adherence to high operational and customer service standards. The manager will work closely with internal campus partners and external clients to ensure events meet their objectives while delivering seamless guest experiences.
This full-time exempt position offers a salary range of $49,500 to $67,500 annually and reports directly to senior management within the university’s administrative structure. The role demands a blend of technical skills, operational expertise, and interpersonal abilities to lead event planning activities from conception through completion. As a Specialized Contributor Level 2 role, it signifies a position requiring established knowledge of event management principles combined with a proactive approach to problem-solving and logistical coordination.
In addition to managing events, the manager supports day-to-day venue operations, including equipment readiness, troubleshooting audio-visual systems, and supervising student staff. The role requires flexibility to work during evenings and weekends as needed to meet event schedules. The manager also actively contributes to hiring, training, and leadership of the event team, fostering a collaborative culture that upholds RIT’s standards of professionalism and excellence. Strong relationships with vendors, contractors, university departments, and partners are essential to sustain high-quality service delivery and venue growth.
Candidates for this role should possess at least a bachelor’s degree in a related field and a minimum of three years of relevant experience, though equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered. The university welcomes applicants eligible to work in the United States and offers reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals with disabilities throughout the hiring process. RIT is committed to pay transparency, equal opportunity employment, and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, ensuring a fair and supportive environment for all employees.
