Job Description
The University of Tennessee Foundation, Inc. (UTFI) is a prominent not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to advancing the educational mission of the University of Tennessee System through private contributions. UTFI acts as the primary conduit for philanthropy benefiting students and faculty across UT campuses, supporting a vision to be recognized as one of the leading advancement organizations within higher education. This impactful foundation shapes the educational landscape across all UT campuses and plays a critical role in fostering opportunities for academic excellence and research growth.
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) stands as a distinguished metropolitan university, admired nationally for its experiential learning environment combined with outstanding teaching scholars. Serving more than 11,350 students, UTC offers extensive academic programs across four colleges, including over 55 bachelor’s degrees with 128 program concentrations, over 50 master's programs, and five doctoral degrees with six program concentrations. UTC prepares students for success in a global society by providing rigorous education at an affordable rate. The UT System itself spans multiple campuses including Knoxville, Chattanooga, Pulaski, Martin, and the Health Science Center at Memphis, among others, making it a comprehensive network supporting diverse educational pursuits.
In line with this mission, UTFI is seeking an Events and Operations Coordinator to support UTC Athletics and the UC Foundation, reporting directly to the Associate Athletic Director of Advancement. This full-time position focuses on planning, coordinating, and facilitating signature events designed to engage and steward UTC Athletics donors through the Mocs Club. The role is pivotal in developing strategies for donor hospitality events, stewardship communications, social media, and other operational duties. The coordinator will interface with various stakeholders including vendors, coaches, student-athletes, and leadership to create impactful donor experiences that advance fundraising goals and strengthen donor relationships.
Key responsibilities of the Events and Operations Coordinator include creating comprehensive event plans based on donor engagement objectives, managing vendor relationships, handling RSVP and event management systems, and analyzing participation data to enhance future events. Additionally, the coordinator leads stewardship communication efforts—crafting donor and student-athlete stories, managing publication workflows, and evaluating communication effectiveness through engagement data in partnership with marketing leadership. The role extends to operational advising, working closely with Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics to shape donor experience strategy while occasionally providing on-site support at advancement events.
This specialized position requires a bachelor’s degree and at least one year of event management experience, preferably within an athletic environment, alongside demonstrated communications experience. A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is essential due to travel requirements. Experience in intercollegiate athletics fundraising is a strong plus. The role also offers a target start date of August 2026 and features a hybrid work schedule. UTFI provides a highly competitive benefits package including paid leave, a variety of insurance plans, retirement options, and employee discounts.
By joining UTFI as an Events and Operations Coordinator, you will contribute directly to the success of UTC Athletics advancement efforts and play a vital role in donor engagement that furthers the excellence of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. This position not only demands exceptional organizational and communication skills but also offers a rewarding opportunity to work within a vibrant university system committed to educational success and community impact.
