Job Description
Apartment Life is a dynamic organization committed to enhancing the quality of life for residents within apartment communities by fostering social engagement, wellness, and stability. Operating as a community-focused entity, Apartment Life partners with corporate, government, and nonprofit organizations to deliver impactful programs tailored to the unique needs of each community they serve. Located in Milwaukie, Oregon, Apartment Life is dedicated to creating inclusive environments where residents can thrive through carefully designed events, workshops, and support services. This part-time role offers a meaningful opportunity to contribute to community enrichment while earning an hourly wage in the range of $21-$24 for 20 hours of weekly service dedicated to one community based in Milwaukie.
The Events and Ministry Coordinator, also known internally as Coordinator of Resident Services, plays a critical role in the success of Apartment Life’s service plan by managing and executing community programming. This position requires working closely with supervisors to draft monthly schedules aimed at meeting the diverse needs of residents through engaging events and educational workshops. The coordinator’s responsibilities include planning and hosting 2-3 Kid's Clubs during weekday afternoons, organizing monthly food programs, and conducting community-wide events that promote social connection, health, enrichment, and stability among residents.
To succeed in this role, the coordinator must employ excellent communication skills to promote programs and maintain regular communication with onsite staff and supervisors. The role demands interaction with a wide array of partners to develop culturally sensitive and impactful programming that resonates with all community members, including adults, families, and youth. Additionally, the coordinator supports residents individually by connecting them with essential resources such as rental assistance, food programs, and other community services to ensure their needs are met holistically.
Given the nature of this position, flexibility to provide after-hours and weekend activities is essential, as these are peak times when most residents are available to participate. The role also expects the coordinator to compile monthly reports that capture the activities hosted and their impact on the community, helping to inform continuous improvement of services. Physical requirements include the ability to perform tasks such as using stairs, standing, bending, and lifting items up to 25 pounds, reflecting the active and hands-on nature of the position.
Apartment Life values a candidate who is not only organized and proactive in event planning but also compassionate and resourceful in addressing the needs of at-risk populations. While a bachelor’s degree or related experience is necessary, preferred qualifications include bilingual Spanish language skills, prior experience with event planning, budget management, social media use, and the ability to mobilize volunteers or community partnerships effectively. This role offers a unique blend of community service and program management within a supportive, mission-driven organization that prioritizes resident well-being and social cohesion.
