The role of Technical Lead at Encore is pivotal in the successful execution of audiovisual events within hospitality settings. Reporting to an Operations Manager, Operations Director, or Director of Event Technology, this position involves the intermediate setup and operation of small to large-scale audiovisual systems. The Technical Lead is responsible not only for the technical proficiency required to manage complex equipment but also for delivering an outstanding customer experience. They serve as a mentor and leader to other technicians, embodying Encore's Delivering World Class Service philosophy. Success in this role requires a blend of technical knowledge, troubleshooting skills, and interpersonal communication to ensure equipment functions flawlessly and client expectations are exceeded.
The Technical Lead manages the entire audiovisual process, including accurate and timely equipment setup, operation, and breakdown. They troubleshoot any technical issues that arise quickly and effectively, ensuring minimal disruption to events. Security and safety compliance is a critical aspect of the role, with responsibilities including protecting equipment from theft or damage and adhering to company guidelines. The position also emphasizes customer service, encouraging the Technical Lead to maintain positive relationships with clients through clear communication and proactive assistance during events. They check in with guests regularly to confirm that setups meet their needs and help foster a strong hotel-client relationship.
In addition to hands-on technical duties, the Technical Lead engages in administrative responsibilities such as following company procedures, completing system entries and paperwork, overseeing equipment logistics, and collaborating with staff and external vendors. They play a role in revenue generation by utilizing up-selling techniques and assisting with invoice finalizations. Technical proficiency extends beyond equipment to include knowledge of company systems and applications used in managing audiovisual operations.
Physical demands of the role include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform tasks requiring standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and reaching for extended periods. The work environment varies from hotel ballrooms and convention centers to on-site warehouses, often involving exposure to varying noise levels, outdoor conditions, and use of specialized equipment like lifts and ladders. Work schedules may include irregular hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays, reflecting the dynamic nature of event production.
Encore’s commitment to employee growth is evident in its comprehensive training and certification programs, with clear pathways for both internal and external applicants to meet required qualifications. This role demands a proactive mindset, strong accountability, and collaboration skills, aligning with Encore’s core competencies such as hospitality, ownership, decision quality, and teamwork.
