The Event Services Manager at Design Cuisine plays a pivotal role in ensuring the flawless execution of catered events, directly contributing to the company’s reputation for outstanding service and client satisfaction. This full-time, hybrid position based in Arlington, VA, combines strategic planning, staff leadership, and operational oversight to deliver seamless dining experiences tailored to the unique needs of each client. With a competitive annual salary range of $70,000 to $80,000, commensurate with experience, the role offers a balanced mix of onsite responsibilities and flexible working conditions, including 10 to 20 percent travel.

In this role, the Event Services Manager is responsible for managing all facets of event coordination, including updating event information in CaterXpert, reviewing and distributing event floorplans and supervisor packets, and ensuring rental logistics are executed efficiently. They serve as a critical communication hub between sales, culinary, and operational teams to align on client expectations and event specifications. Leading a team of event staff, the manager enforces company standards and procedures during onsite events, ensures timely payment collections, and provides proactive troubleshooting to handle unforeseen challenges during events. The role emphasizes autonomy, requiring a self-motivated individual who can make sound business decisions, manage staff effectively, and uphold exemplary communication standards.

Beyond event execution, the manager cultivates and maintains strong client relationships, driving satisfaction through attentive service from pre-event planning to post-event follow-up. Responsibilities also extend to administrative tasks such as managing event calendars, participating in meetings and conference calls, processing event closeouts, and maintaining organized records. Job Requirements

  • Two years of catering, food-beverage or administrative/event experience
  • Very organized
  • Able to work independently and make sound business decisions
  • Basic PC knowledge including Word and Excel
  • Basic math knowledge including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and percentages
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent staff management skills

Job Duties

  • Ensure all event information in CaterXpert is up to date and detailed prior to deadlines
  • Review event floorplans, day of supervisor packets, pack lists, and rental equipment for accuracy and distribution
  • Communicate company procedures, standards, and expectations to event staff onsite
  • Assist in the setup and execution of events
  • Coordinate delivery and pickup schedules for event rentals with specialists or venue managers
  • Maintain and manage event calendars via Outlook and attend relevant meetings and calls
  • Liaise effectively with sales, culinary, and booking staff to understand menus and client needs
  • Collect and submit all payments and deposits related to contracted events, review accounts receivable reports, and resolve discrepancies
  • Troubleshoot and make prompt decisions to address event challenges
  • Manage event staff, hold them accountable, and administer discipline as necessary
  • Follow up with photographers post-event to request photos
  • Act as the first point of contact for general leads, gathering detailed information
  • Process event closeouts following each event
  • Send nightly event reminders to internal staff
