The Event Planner at EPRI is a crucial role centered on managing and executing multiple types of events that vary in complexity to support EPRI’s strategic goals and stakeholder engagements. Based in Charlotte, NC, this position demands exceptional project management skills, customer-focused communication, and an expert understanding of event planning protocols aligned with EPRI's high standards. The Event Planner will work collaboratively with various departments and external vendors to ensure all events reinforce EPRI’s branding, comply with institutional protocols, and produce measurable business outcomes. This role requires proactive engagement from planning through execution, including budget management, contract review, staff coordination, and post-event assessments. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent event planning or hospitality industry experience
  • Five years event planning or hospitality industry experience preferred
  • Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) preferred
  • Working knowledge of meeting management systems, web-based registration and communication tools
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel significantly
  • Self-directed with strong project management skills
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities effectively
  • Experience with AI-powered platforms for automation
  • Good ethics and integrity
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, vendors and customers
  • Commitment to customer service excellence and detail orientation

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent event planning or hospitality industry experience
  • Five years event planning or hospitality industry experience preferred
  • Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) certification preferred
  • Working knowledge of meeting management systems and web-based registration tools
  • Strong interpersonal skills to instill confidence and represent EPRI effectively
  • Experience incorporating strategic marketing and communications in event planning
  • Familiarity with audio visual equipment and event logistical items
  • Knowledge of event apps and registration tools
  • Experience marketing events and trade shows is a plus
  • People leadership experience is advantageous

Job Duties

  • Collaborate, proactively engage and manage events end-to-end for assigned stakeholders
  • Serve as the principal liaison between event hosts and suppliers throughout planning and execution
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with stakeholders, internal departments and vendors ensuring compliance
  • Conduct needs assessment with event hosts to align event execution with intended outcomes
  • Develop, implement and maintain comprehensive event project plans
  • Prepare and manage event budgets, review contracts, monitor staffing, coordinate materials, handle invoicing and conduct post-event evaluations
  • Provide unparalleled customer service emphasizing communication and detail
  • Manage administrative tasks related to event payments and time tracking
  • Travel to lead and provide on-site event support
  • Collaborate with Marketing Communications to align event goals with institutional branding and objectives
