Job Description

SCI Shared Resources, LLC is a leading provider in the funeral and memorial services industry, known for its compassionate approach and commitment to helping families celebrate the lives of their loved ones. With a deep respect for tradition and an understanding of the importance of personalized remembrance, SCI Shared Resources offers comprehensive services designed to support families during some of the most challenging times. As an Equal Opportunity Employer, SCI Shared Resources is dedicated to an inclusive and barrier-free recruitment process, providing accessibility options to applicants with disabilities to ensure everyone has a fair chance to join their compassionate team.

This position focuses on the crucial role of assisting families and friends through event planning for personalized Celebration of Life services. The role is intended for individuals who have a strong sense of empathy and are skilled organizers, capable of handling the coordination of meaningful commemorative events that truly reflect the life and passions of the deceased. Responsibilities include coordinating room reservations, food arrangements, and the creation of mementos that add a special touch to each event. The role demands excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to meet strict schedules while maintaining a supportive presence for clients.

As an individual contributor, you will work closely with location leaders and staff to train teams and manage inventories pertinent to events. Your efforts will involve maintaining a comprehensive list of local and online vendors capable of satisfying personalized service requests, ensuring order forms are accurate and up-to-date, and managing the logistical details that make each Celebration of Life unique. The role also requires purchasing decor items with manager approval and potentially managing item retrieval from storage.

This position requires a high level of creative thinking and organizational skills to produce checklists, coordinate music and service items, and manage documentation in line with company policies. Empathy and effective communication are essential, as you will frequently interact with grieving families, offering support as they plan memorial services. The work environment primarily involves indoor duties with some travel, and may include physical demands such as lifting, climbing stairs, and extended periods of sitting, all within a respectful and collaborative setting.

Applicants should bring a high school diploma or equivalent, with preference given to those possessing an associate degree in hospitality. A valid state driver's license is necessary, alongside at least two years of experience in hospitality or event planning and preferably some experience in the funeral industry. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the Office Suite is also expected. The position may occasionally require working beyond standard business hours to meet the needs of families in distress.

Joining SCI Shared Resources means contributing to a mission-driven company that prioritizes empathy, professionalism, and excellence in memorial services. This opportunity allows you to leverage your organizational and interpersonal skills to make a positive impact during sensitive moments for clients, helping to create meaningful and personalized experiences that honor the memories of loved ones in a respectful and heartfelt manner.
