Job Description
The University of Wisconsin-Madison is a renowned public research university known for its commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and community service. Among its many distinguished departments, Wisconsin Athletics stands out as a dynamic and highly regarded athletic organization that supports 23 University of Wisconsin athletic programs. This department is dedicated to providing exceptional experiences for student-athletes, fans, and community members through well-executed sporting events and live performances. The Event Management team at Wisconsin Athletics is a pivotal unit responsible for orchestrating major live events and sports contests at key venues including Camp Randall Stadium and the Kohl Center.
The University of Wisconsin-Madison is currently seeking a driven and experienced professional to join the Event Management team as an Event Manager or Senior Event Manager. This position is a regular full-time Academic Staff role with a salary starting at $65,000, negotiable based on the candidate's experience and qualifications. It offers a vibrant and collaborative work environment within one of the largest and busiest athletic complexes in the region.
The successful candidate will play a primary role in supporting concerts and major live events hosted at Camp Randall Stadium and the Kohl Center, including coordinating with event promoters and production managers throughout all stages of event planning and execution. This includes managing pre-event communications, overseeing on-site event operations, and assisting with post-event logistics and settlements. The Event Manager must ensure strict adherence to client contracts, production riders, and venue requirements, guaranteeing seamless and professional delivery of each event.
In addition to live events, the role includes supporting the broader event management activities for Wisconsin Athletics by managing event operations for various athletic contests and department functions. Depending on departmental needs and the candidate's strengths, primary responsibility will be assigned to a specific sport or set of events. The position demands a proactive individual who thrives under pressure, exhibits strong organizational skills, and possesses creative problem-solving abilities to innovate event strategies and enhance participant experiences.
This role is ideal for someone passionate about live entertainment and sports event management, with the ability to remain level-headed in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment. The Event Manager must demonstrate a team-oriented mindset, strong work ethic, and a commitment to excellence that aligns with the mission of Wisconsin Athletics and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The title of Event Manager or Senior Event Manager will be determined based on the candidate's experience in arena and stadium operations.
The position also involves budget monitoring and approval of expenditures, establishing operational goals aligned with organizational strategies, maintaining robust relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and potentially supervising staff. The successful individual will have the opportunity to implement innovative operational policies and contribute significantly to the ongoing success of Wisconsin Athletics events. The University of Wisconsin-Madison values diversity and inclusion, fostering a welcoming environment that respects varied backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. Employees enjoy generous vacation and paid time off benefits, competitive insurance packages, retirement benefits, and access to Badger gear and season tickets for major sports events, underscoring the institution's commitment to supporting its staff both professionally and personally.
