The Event Manager role at Navy Pier Events Facility is a dynamic full-time position offering an annual salary range of $60,000 to $75,000. This role is integral to the successful execution of events from initial planning through to completion. The Event Manager is responsible for managing all facets of assigned events, including client communications, coordinating event logistics, overseeing staff, and ensuring all contractual and regulatory requirements are met. They act as the primary liaison between clients and the facility, dedicated to delivering exceptional customer service and creating memorable event experiences. The Event Manager collaborates with numerous internal departments and external service providers to maintain high standards of quality and service. Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- 3-5 plus years of event management experience in public assembly venues
- strong communication skills
- proficiency with Microsoft Office
- knowledge of event operations and crowd management
- understanding of customer service and supervision principles
- familiarity with contracts and public safety regulations
- ability to work collaboratively and manage relationships
- experience with budget management
- availability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferably with major coursework in facility management, hospitality management, business, or related field
- 3-5 plus years of increasingly responsible experience in event management within stadiums, arenas, convention centers, or public assembly facilities
- strong oral and written communication skills
- strong computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Office applications, word processing, and Internet use
- knowledge of operational aspects of events, crowd management and control techniques
- understanding of customer service practices
- knowledge of supervision, scheduling, and training employees
- familiarity with facility use contracts
- knowledge of fire and public safety regulations
- experience with audiovisual equipment and electronic systems in public assembly venues
- experience with budget preparation and control
- familiarity with terminology used in entertainment, convention, and public assembly settings
- experience with AutoCAD preferred but not required
Job Duties
- Direct all facility staff in delivering facility services for events and resolving event related problems
- direct and participate in pre-event planning including reviewing event history and coordinating with event planners and suppliers
- compile and review event and contractor charges, assist with documentation and collections follow-up
- conduct post-event meetings with event planners and contractors to evaluate services
- conduct tours and presentations of facilities to potential clients and determine their event needs
- prepare pricing estimates for prospective meetings
- monitor and ensure compliance with contractual responsibilities and facility rules
- ensure adherence to government and public safety regulations by event planners and service providers
- communicate clear directives to departments
- implement facility rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
- maintain proper image and generate positive public relations with patrons and staff
- coordinate with internal service partners to provide quality service to customers
- serve as liaison for clients to ensure excellent customer service from external providers
- establish new customer service standards and participate in the training and supervision of other Event Managers
- perform other job-related duties as assigned
