The company is committed to delivering exceptional live experiences and fostering innovative solutions in the sports and live entertainment industries. OVG is dedicated to building inclusive and diverse teams that drive innovation, strengthen communities, and raise standards across all operations. The Iowa Events Center in Des Moines, Iowa, part of the Oak View Group family, hosts a variety of large-scale events and exhibits, providing a dynamic and vibrant atmosphere for both event organizers and attendees.
The Event Manager position at the Iowa Events Center involves full-time employment with an annual salary ranging from $45,000 to $50,000. The role requires a hands-on manager who will oversee every aspect of assigned events from planning through completion. This leadership position demands a proactive individual capable of managing event staff, coordinating with local public safety officials, and ensuring a seamless event experience. Responsibilities include hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising event personnel; maintaining building security; facilitating communication between event and security staff; and overseeing customer and lessee satisfaction. The Event Manager is instrumental in coordinating pre-event preparations such as financial estimates and operational needs, as well as post-event evaluations, guaranteeing high standards of service and venue functionality.
Working within a fast-paced environment, this position requires flexibility to accommodate long nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays when events are scheduled. The successful candidate will provide effective leadership and guidance to subordinates, systematically analyze event challenges, and implement strategies that align with organizational goals. Additionally, the Event Manager acts as a critical liaison between the facility, external clients, municipal officials, and the public to ensure safety, smooth operations, and positive communication channels.
The role further involves logistical and operational duties including equipment maintenance, emergency planning, hospitality arrangements, payroll administration, and compliance with fire and public safety regulations. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, familiarity with public assembly facility operations, crowd management techniques, and principles of supervision, training, and scheduling. Experience in budget preparation, control, and a working knowledge of audiovisual equipment and AutoCAD are advantageous.
Oak View Group embraces diversity and is an equal opportunity employer, committed to fostering an inclusive work environment where every team member is valued. Employees benefit from comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with matching contributions, and paid time off including vacation, sick days, and holidays. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to impactful live entertainment events, working at the heart of an internationally recognized venue management company dedicated to excellence and innovation.
