Job Description

Hawai'i Foodbank is a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to ending hunger across the Hawaiian Islands. Established with a mission to nourish our 'Ohana today and work towards a hunger-free tomorrow, Hawai'i Foodbank has become a vital resource for communities in need. The organization distributes food through a network of partner agencies while also engaging in advocacy and community outreach to raise awareness about food insecurity in Hawai'i. Known for its innovative programs and commitment to sustainability, Hawai'i Foodbank operates with a strong sense of community responsibility, making a significant social impact throughout the region. Within this dynamic environment, Hawai'i Foodbank is making a deliberate multi-year investment to expand its philanthropy efforts by building a dedicated team focused on deepening donor relationships and increasing philanthropic support. This is an exciting phase of growth where the organization is focused not just on maintaining but building new structures, disciplines, and capabilities to unlock the full potential of its mission.

The currently available position of Event Manager represents a unique opportunity to join a development team that is being thoughtfully constructed from the ground up. As an Event Manager at Hawai'i Foodbank, you will play a critical role in elevating the organization’s fundraising, stewardship, and community engagement efforts through expertly planned and executed events. From signature galas to volunteer appreciation days, every event you coordinate will help build momentum for the mission, engage donors more deeply, and foster advocacy that supports both short-term nourishment and long-term hunger solutions. Reporting to the Director of Donor Engagement and working alongside multiple departments including Development, Marketing & Communications, Programs, Operations, Finance, and Executive Leadership, you will lead all stages of event planning—from concept to execution—to create exceptional experiences that strengthen relationships and raise critical support.

This full-time role is based in Honolulu, HI, with a hybrid work environment allowing for both in-office and remote work, though occasional evenings and weekends are expected to support event schedules. Compensation begins at $70,000 per year and includes a comprehensive benefits package with health insurance, dental and vision coverage, 401(k), employee assistance programs, and paid time off. The role is ideal for a highly organized, detail-oriented professional with at least three years of event planning experience who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven nonprofit setting. In addition to managing logistics such as budgets, venues, vendors, and volunteers, you will help develop standard operating procedures and post-event evaluations to continuously improve event impact. Your efforts will directly enhance philanthropic outcomes and contribute to a collaborative, vibrant culture dedicated to making a measurable difference across Hawai'i.
