The role within the Birmingham, AL Michaels store is an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about customer service, event coordination, and crafting. This position focuses primarily on planning, coordinating, and facilitating various events, including children’s birthday parties, craft classes, and community activities designed to provide an enjoyable and stress-free experience for guests of all ages. As an Event Coordinator and Customer Experience Team Member, the individual will be responsible for guiding customers through their shopping journey and ensuring they receive friendly and efficient service at checkout. Additionally, this role involves operational support activities such as merchandise stocking, truck unloads, store recovery standards, and maintaining optimal cleanliness and safety throughout the store environment. The position demands active engagement with customers to promote the Michaels Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards, assist with omnichannel retail processes like Buy Online Pickup In Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS), and uphold company policies and safety standards.

Candidates for this role should possess a strong blend of people skills, organizational capabilities, and creative problem-solving abilities. Experience in retail customer service and working with children or children’s events is highly preferred, as is the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Physical requirements include the ability to remain standing for extended durations, maneuver throughout the store, and perform tasks involving bending, lifting, and reaching. Working hours may include nights, weekends, and early mornings to accommodate event timings and operational needs.
