Situated in Kenosha, Wisconsin, the institution offers a variety of programs including undergraduate degrees, professional continuing education, and workforce development initiatives designed to meet the evolving needs of students and professionals alike. The Professional and Continuing Education unit at UW-Parkside plays a crucial role in delivering noncredit training and events, which are tailored to empower students and community members with skills that enhance their career trajectories and personal development.
The role of Event Coordinator Assistant, available as a student hourly position at UW-Parkside’s Professional and Continuing Education unit, is an exciting opportunity for energetic and organized students who want to gain hands-on experience in event management and administrative support within an educational setting. This internship-eligible position offers a rate of $12 per hour and focuses on assisting with the coordination of various noncredit training and educational events, including in-person, hybrid, and online formats. As an Event Coordinator Assistant, you will be responsible for supporting the outreach program manager and other team members by handling essential tasks such as testing and setting up equipment used during training sessions, managing day-of event logistics including setup and teardown, and running errands that facilitate smooth event operations.
Additionally, this role involves administrative duties integral to the success of the Professional and Continuing Education programs. These tasks encompass organizing event documentation, answering phone calls, assisting with enrollment processes, and maintaining accurate reporting for workforce development participants. Your contribution will directly impact the efficiency and effectiveness of the department’s event management efforts, thus helping to foster an engaging learning environment for all participants. This position provides a valuable opportunity for students to develop critical organizational, communication, and multitasking skills, while gaining practical experience with various online platforms such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
The University of Wisconsin-Parkside values diversity and inclusion, encouraging qualified individuals from all backgrounds to apply. Employment in this position requires a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation, as well as willingness to undergo a criminal background check consistent with Wisconsin state employment laws. By joining the Professional and Continuing Education team, you will become part of a supportive community dedicated to professional growth and lifelong learning within a dynamic academic environment.
