The Cade Museum for Creativity & Invention (Cade Museum) is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization located in Gainesville, Florida, dedicated to inspiring the next generation of innovators by providing an engaging environment that fosters creativity, invention, and innovation. The museum is deeply rooted in supporting education through exhibits, programs, and resources that emphasize science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM). It serves as a community hub where invention and creativity come to life, providing a unique space for people of all ages to explore and realize their creative potential. The Cade Museum is currently seeking a creative, organized, and detail-oriented individual to join their team as an Event Assistant. This part-time role, offering up to 24 hours per week, is vital in supporting the Facility Rentals Manager in the smooth implementation and management of all facility rentals throughout the museum’s buildings. Working in this role means becoming part of a dynamic team that values reliability, initiative, and strong customer service. The Event Assistant plays a critical role in ensuring that events hosted at the museum run flawlessly, representing the museum’s commitment to excellent visitor experience and operational efficiency. This position requires flexibility, including availability for Tuesday shifts in the morning and afternoon, as well as weekends, evenings, and some holidays. The ideal candidate is expected to be confident and proactive, with excellent communication and organizational skills, combined with a detail-oriented mindset. Key responsibilities include creating floor plans, assisting with equipment and furniture setup and breakdown, providing on-site support during facility rental events, and supporting internal museum events as needed. Job Requirements
- High school degree or GED
- able to lift 25+ pounds
- must have strong work ethic, professionalism, dependability
- excellent customer support skills
- able to work Tuesday morning/afternoon shifts, weekends, evenings, and some holidays
- self-motivated and reliable
- willingness to jump in without hesitation when needed
Job Qualifications
- High school degree or GED
- at least one year of event planning experience preferred
- food and beverage experience preferred
- proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint
- basic knowledge of Blackbaud and Altru is a plus
- knowledge of Social Tables or similar event layout platform
Job Duties
- Create floor plans
- setup, breakdown, and help maintain all Cade owned equipment and furniture
- be present for duration of facility rental events
- provide support for internal events as necessary
- perform other duties as necessary or assigned
